WORKFLOW GUIDE

What should a home care scheduling conflict check include?

A home care scheduling check should consider overlapping visits, caregiver availability, approved leave, relevant document validity, and patient care setup for the actual visit window. Assignment and publication should be distinct decisions so unresolved issues can be reviewed before the team relies on a published schedule.

Check more than overlapping times

Overlapping assignments are an obvious conflict, but they are not the only reason a visit may need review. A worker could be unavailable, on approved leave, or missing a requirement that applies to the intended visit. Care setup may also be incomplete.

Use the dates and times of the proposed visit rather than assuming today’s status will remain valid. This matters for recurring visits, because a plan that works this week may need a different decision later in the series.

Keep draft work separate from published work

A draft gives the office room to plan. Publication makes the intended visit available through the relevant team views. A deliberate transition helps teams agree who resolves a conflict and who has authority to release the plan.

In the Kalinga foundation, publication can also consider prepaid clearance, a postpaid arrangement, or an authorized exception. The purpose is to make required checks visible, rather than asking a scheduler to infer them from a calendar color.

Rehearse amendments and exceptions

Ask what happens when a caregiver becomes unavailable after publication. Review how the replacement is assessed, what history remains, and which people can see the revised plan. Consider how cancelled or changed work affects later attendance review.

Estrella describes human-led planning with readiness checks, rather than a promise of autonomous assignment. During a demo, follow one conflict from detection through resolution and publication. That makes it easier to evaluate the workflow than comparing a list of calendar features alone.

Include recurring visits in that walkthrough, since a later occurrence may have different availability or document validity from the first one.

Questions about this guide

Do conflict checks automatically find a replacement?

Not necessarily. Estrella’s described workflow supports a scheduler’s decision; autonomous replacement is not promised.
